About the Trainer
Alicia has been training and working in the pet industry for over 10 years. She is a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and has certified many dogs with the AKC Canine Good Citizen program, she is also an evaluator and instructor for the APDT C.L.A.S.S program. She has helped many dogs become therapy dogs, going into hospitals, nursing homes, schools and more. Alicia has had experience training deaf and otherwise handicapped dogs. She utilizes positive reinforcement training methodology and works to find each dog’s motivation for learning. She is familiar with training with hand commands as well as verbal commands and understands that each pet and their owner are individuals and what works for one dog may not always work for another. She utilizes natural ways of working with a dog in a holistic way including the use of Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils to support healthy emotional responses and behavior modification without the use of chemicals. She has worked in many other aspects of the pet industry in addition to dog training, including pet grooming, pet nutrition specialist, and being a reptile, aquatics, and small animal specialist. She believes dogs truly do enhance our well-being and works to enhance the knowledge, understanding, trust, and bond between a human and animal. Alicia currently lives and trains in Asheville Nc. In her spare time, she loves to do crafts, glass blowing, stay active outdoors and competitive power lifting, and loves to hang out with her two dogs Kiwi a fluffy corgi and Bindi a cattle dog mix.
